Goals for 2016.....

Hey Peeps!

I didn't really know what to post about this evening so I have decided I need to set some goals.

We booked our summer holiday this week and one goal that defiantly springs to mind is to look better for this holiday! Every previous holiday I have felt so uncomfortable on. Sitting by the pool in a swim suit feeling like everyone is looking at you because of your weight can really get you down. I've had this feeling on every sun holiday the only way I've got over it is to stay in the pool. I don't want to have this horrible feeling in the back of my mind when I am meant to be enjoying myself. So if I look better I might feel better and in turn enjoy my holiday that little bit more. I'm sure most women and men have felt like this at some stage in their lives if they are carrying a tad more weight than normal or if they have always battled with their weight like myself. Im not going to post a pic of e pool side as no-one wants to see that! Seeing as its Throwback Thursday ill post another pic of me in the past.

Me going to my Debs in 2007 at my heaviest weight just touching 17stone

 Goal 1: Lose weight
I'm not going to over exaggerate the amount of weight I want to lose but make it achievable and take it week by week. Slow and steady wins the race.
I will be happy losing 1lb a week any more will be a bonus.

Goal 2: Do the Frank Duffy 10 mile
I have been thinking about this for a couple of days now and I have decided I am going to do this race in Aug. I did three races in the Dublin race series last year and I know I can do them again with some training but the main goal will be to complete the Frank Duffy 10 mile in under 2hrs 15minutes.
My time for the Fingal 10km last year was 1hr 18minutes so I am hoping to better that time this year. The Frank Duffy is after the Fingal 10km in August this year.

Pictures from the Fingal 10km 2015

Goal 3: Get fitter
Obviously if I am going to be training I will ultimately improve my fitness. I am not only going to run but I will be attending a personal trainer once a week for one hour. Not only do I want to get fitter to run the 10 mile but also for my health and the fact that I am going back to he GAA team I joined last year. It took a lot for me to go and join the team last year I had said I was doing it for years and never did. I knew I was going to be the most unfit on the team and I also had a feeling I would be the oldest which it turns out I was. O'Dwyers Ladies Gaa team is my local team and we won our league last year. Our pre-season training this year is going to consist of an hour long gym session for 7weeks and one pitch session. All together I will be training /exercising three fours times a week. I will be having a rest period in between each day so I don't over do it.

Me pitch side earlier in the year

First Run of 2016.......Done!

Hey y'all!

Well I finally braved it and went on a run this evening. It was calm and mild when I left the house. At first all was grand I think I did the first 1km in 7ish mins which is not great but not bad either considering I more than likely consumed a small pub over Christmas!

Me out on my run this eve (before it started to rain).

Well half way into my run the elements decided to turn against me.
I mean rain and wind in my face I won't say it was galeforce wind but it sure as hell felt like it!
This meant I was
blind running up the road as my glasses were not only fogged up but full of wet spots.
Anyway I soldiered on, oh I forgot to mention I also didn't wear any waterproof gear so I was saturated! My Arms were so cold and my hands were now numb.

I took out my phone to see what time I was at. 30 mins meh not bad I thought to myself I'm not going to beat my personal best of 5km in 37 minutes but I am satisfied with the time so far as I can better it.
Then what did dopey do? I closed strava accidentally!
So my run was no longer recorded! Worst Run EVER!!!!!!
I'm still happy I did it. As they say something is better than nothing :)

So Lunch today was actually the same as dinner last night.
Dinner tonight was as follows:

Salmon, tomatoe, lettuce, a mixture of peppers and home made coleslaw.
YUM!

 Dinner this evening

So that was my evening I'm sure ill be some what sore tomorrow.
I'm going to chill now with a cup of tea and watch RED ROCK(don't judge I love it!)

Chow for now ;)

Hey guys! Sorry I didn't post yesterday I'm still adjusting to life back in work post Christmas!

Anyway....  I had another good day yesterday.

 Breakfast
45g of low sugar granola with fresh strawberries and low fat yogurt
1 American with a dash of slimline milk and 1 sweetener.

Lunch
Bowl of homemade butternut squash soup.
Salad consisting of tomatoes, cucumber, lettuce, cous cous and 2 hard boiled eggs.

Dinner
1 small chicken fillet, peas, carrots with 3 baby potatoes.

Water
4 750ml bottles = 3ltrs

I also had 1 cup of tea and 2 biscotti biscuits. (the small ones you get in a cafe  with your coffee)

I didn't do any exercise yesterday as after dinner I could not keep my eyes open so I went to bed.

It's now Wednesday and I'm planning on going for my first run of 2016 tonight. I've no idea how I'll get on but I'll use strava to measure my time and distance.  I will be happy to just get out there this evening! I'm not planning on doing a specific time or distance tonight, as I want to see what I'm capable of first without going hell for leather. It's been about five or six months since I did a proper run so my body will have to adjust all over again to pounding the paths.

I'll post how I get on later :)

Chow for now!

Monday Blues...

Well I did it, stepped on the scales for the post Christmas figure..... and guess what I didn't die!
I was dreading it so I closed my eyes! To my own surprise I have only put on 1kg.

I Honestly thought I would be 4kg or more up so I am very happy with my 1kg gain.

Now I need to set some goals and how I plan to shift this weight once and for all!
I think I will take it week by week weigh in wise. Every Monday will be weigh in.
The reason for Monday weigh in is simple. If weigh in was Tuesday or Thursday
I know from the past I had a tendency to go wild on a Saturday night and
think to myself "ah sure I have 3 days to real it back it will be grand".
Then come weigh day I'm devastated because I've only lost half a pound!

Eh hello! Earth to Ann! you drank 2.5 bottles of wine AND had a take away..What do you expect?
A MIRACLE!?!?!?

Anyway... I'm still undecided about sharing what my actual weight is online ...
Lets just says its more than 10 stone but less than 15!
What do you think? Should I share it?

Today s meals were:

Breakfast:
Granola 45g with Low Fat Yogurt
1 Americano with a dash of skimmed milk and 1 sweetner

Lunch:
salad which consisted of  soy noodles, peppers, onion
tomatoes, rocket, lettuce, 1 tablespoon of couscous, 1 boiled egg
and a tablespoon of coleslaw.

Dinner:
3 baby potatoes, 2 small chicken breasts, carrots, parsnip
and peas

Water intake:
Four 750mls = 6 pints

And now I am going to have a cup of tea to warm me up!

So the worst is over, the first day back to work, the first day of eating healthy
and the dreaded stepping on the sales after Christmas.
All three were not as bad as I thought...Happy days!

Tomorrow I will post about my goals as I am now going to go
and plan them.

Chow for now!

Morning thoughts....

I have literally spent the last few hours trying to figure all this out. It's safe to say it will take a while!
Yesterday was my brother-in-laws (to be in the somewhat near future) partners birthday! Happy Birthday Craig!! Needless to say there was a small celebration of a family dinner. The mammy in law was tempting me with some wine and I succeeded in not drinking any! yeayyyy!! Dinner consisted of a home made spaghetti bolognese which was divine! It was so so nice to have something other than turkey!

So all I had to eat today was as follows:
1 Americano
1 Capachino
Spaghetti bolognese
3 slices of garlic bread
4 pints of water
and to finish the day off a homemade hot chocolate (yum)

Yes I know its not at the healthy stage yet as I need to do the shopping, which I hate!

I'm still finding my way at the moment and hopefully everything will take shape. I will gradually find my feet and get to where I want to be regarding the blog, training, and eating a healthy balanced diet. Not to mention going back to work on Monday, I can't wait to get back into a routine. Christmas really does knock you for six with parties, food and your routine going completely out the window.

I have come to the stage where I need something to focus on to help me lose weight this is why I set the blog up. Even if no-one reads it I will have a purpose for myself to record what I eat and make myself do exercise. It's a bit sad really but hey I AM DOING THIS FOR ME :)

Catch ya later, I need some zzZZZZ

January 2016 - The beginning

So here I am at 00:09am writing my first ever blog post!
For what reason?? One word... Motivation. Every other year it's the same, New Year new me. I have never lived up to it so this will be my Savior for the next 12 months! (I hope).
What's my plan?  So far it's this blog along with pre-season training which begins on Monday 4th.  I play on the local ladies gaa team known as O'Dwyers. I need to get in shape for the season ahead especially after  over indulging I did over the Christmas period.
This is me putting myself out there in order to help and motivate myself.
For the last two weeks I easily drank every single night  my excuse?! "Ah sure it's Christmas" I'm sure everyone else did the same!
Catch ya later
